WINNERS: BIG E & KOFI KINGSTON RETAINED THE SMACKDOWN TAG TEAM TITLES

(Amin’s Analysis: A great fast-paced opening match as there were some great sequences as everyone got a chance to shine and hit their signature spots.)

Lacey Evans cut a promo as she outlined the whole WWE HQ’s building and then said she will greet Bayley with the Women’s Right.

Charly Caruso interviewed Drew McIntyre backstage who wished Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers. McIntyre noted Seth Rollins biggest problem is his mouth and will welcome him to Claymore Country after his breaks his jaw.

BOBBY LASHLEY vs. R-TRUTH

MVP was advertised to wrestle R-Truth as they had pre-match promo. Bobby Lashley came out and told MVP he got this. R-Truth accidentally slapped Lashley. Lashley hit a Spinebuster and then won with a spear.

WINNER: BOBBY LASHLEY

(Amin’s Analysis: This was a simple showcase win for Lashley who looked great and shows great intensity.)

King Corbin cut a promo gloating about taking out Elias, beating up Drew Gulak and standing tall on SmackDown. Corbin claimed he will win his second Money in the Bank match.

Kayla Braxton approached Sasha Banks and Bayley for her match. Braxton tried to cause tension and asked Bayley if she blamed Banks for losing to Tamina on SmackDown. Bayley said she didn’t blame Banks and left. Banks didn’t answer.

WINNER: BAYLEY RETAINED THE SMACKDOWN WOMEN’S TITLE

After the match, Tamina went after Bayley but Banks stopped her with a chop block. Banks nailed Tamina with a running knee and then handed the SmackDown Women’s Title to Bayley.

(Amin’s Analysis: I will say Tamina worked hard but this was slow paced match. Bayley was the star as she worked hard and has been carrying the SmackDown Women’s Division with Banks.)

Backstage, Seth Rollins looked into a camera and noted Drew McIntyre knows what’s he capable of. Rollins claimed he will take the burden off McIntyre and needs to be the Messiah and their champion.

WWE UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: BRAUN STROWMAN vs. BRAY WYATT

Strowman hit a shoulder tackle as Wyatt laughed in the corner. Strowman hit a running splash as Wyatt rolled to the floor. Wyatt moved as Strowman went crashing into the announcers table. Huskus appeared at ringside as Wyatt planted Strowman with a DDT on the floor and then hit a running clothesline for a two count. Wyatt went for a second Sister Abigail but Strowman countered with a Chokeslam. Strowman connected with the Strowman Express sending Wyatt into the barricade. Wyatt kicked Strowman to the floor. Strowman appeared wearing his Sheep Mask as Wyatt laughed. This got weird as both Strowman and Wyatt got on their knees and laughed. They hugged each other as all the FireFly FunHouse animals appeared at ringside. Wyatt took off his sheep mask and stomped on it. Strowman hit a Running Powerslam for the 1,2,3.

WINNER: BRAUN STROWMAN RETAINED THE WWE UNIVERSAL TITLE

Stowman posed on the ring entrance with the WWE Universal Title as Wyatt watched as The Fiend graphic appeared.

(Amin’s Analysis: This was a fine match as both Strowman and Wyatt worked hard and told a story of them being part of the Wyatt Family. I thought we’ve got a DQ finish to set up the rematch. The story here is the Bray Wyatt character shows some feelings in his match but The Fiend is the stronger of the characters and will likely be the one to take the title from Strowman.)

WWE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: DREW MCINTYRE vs. SETH ROLLINS

Rollins came out to new music going full on his Messiah character. McIntyre took control early hitting a pair of shoulder tackles and then a running clothesline sending Rollins to the floor. WINNER: DREW MCINTYRE RETAINED THE WWE TITLE

After the match, McIntyre offered a handshake as Rollins accepted.

(Amin’s Analysis: This was tremendous as Rollins is an excellent wrestler and always puts on great matches. McIntyre was awesome here as he presents himself as a star and is a great wrestler. This was a terrific match as there were some great near falls and awesome sequences leading to the finish.)

Charly interviewed R-Truth backstage who cut a comedy promo noting MVP looked different in his match as he lost a lot of weight. R-Truth noted he didn’t have anyone to celebrate with tonight as he showed a picture of him as the 24/7 Champion. R-Truth claimed he was going to sack Tom Brady and get back the 24/7 Title. R-Truth left as Charly noted Rob Gronkowski is the 24/7 Champion.

MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCHES: MEN’S (AJ STYLES vs. ALEISTER BLACK, DANIEL BRYAN vs. REY MYSTERIO vs. KING CORBIN vs. OTIS) WOMEN’S (ASUKA vs. SHAYNA BASZLER, CARMELLA vs. DANA BROOKE. LACEY EVANS vs. NIA JAX)

Both matches took place at the same time. Baszler, Brooke, Carmella, Evans and Jax were shown at the lobby of WWE HQs. Asuka’s music played as she was standing on a roof and delivered a flying crossbody onto everyone on the floor. Asuka started to dance and then entered the elevator. Everyone else went up the staircase.

Styles, Black, Bryan, Mysterio, Otis and Corbin all brawled inside the gym. Bryan ducked as Corbin threw a weight which smashed the window. Corbin’s facial expression was great as he looked shocked by his actions. Otis placed a barbell onto Styles. Styles asked Mysterio for help but he just walked away. They brawled on upper levels of the building. There was a comedy spot as Mysterio spotted Brother Love coming out of the bathroom. Bryan delivered YES Kicks to Corbin as Otis did the YES chant. Bryan then delivered YES Kicks to Otis. Bryan left as someone who was dressed up as Doink appeared behind the couch.

The women brawled in a corporate office as Brooke laid out Jax with a chair. Brooke climbed onto a table and then unhooked a briefcase as she thought she won the match. Stephanie McMahon appeared and noted this was the MITB corporate office and she didn’t win the match. Stephanie asked Brooke to clean up as she noted Jax was drooling all over the floor. Stephanie called it disgusting and left. The camera panned as Jax was laid out on the floor. Carmella appeared from behind and smashed a frame onto Brooke. Carmella did her moonwalk dance out the office but was greeted by a Women’s Right from Evans.

Styles was shown searching for Mysterio when he approached a photo of The Undertaker on the wall as The Undertaker’s dong played. Styles opened a door and saw caskets inside as he had flashbacks of his Boneyard Match against The Undertaker. Black appeared as he delivered a high kick sending Styles into the room.

Someone was shown mopping the floors as Asuka appeared. Everyone chased Asuka across the hall. The comedy spot came when Brooke ran but slipped on the wet floor.  Bryan and Styles were shown brawling inside an office as Vince McMahon appeared and his music played. Vince told Bryan and Styles to leave. They returned and placed the chairs in their proper spots and left. Vince then washed his hands with Purell.

Asuka and Jax made it first to the roof of the building as Evans followed. Evans nailed Jax with the Women’s Right. Evans went to climb the ladder but Asuka stopped her and then dropped a ladder onto Jax. Asuka went to climb the ladder but Corbin appeared as he also began to climb the ladder. Asuka knocked Corbin off the ladder and grabbed the Women’s Money in the Bank briefcase.

WINNER: ASUKA WON THE WOMEN’S MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH

(Amin’s Analysis: I enjoyed this as there were some great spots and nice cameo appearances. Here’s my prediction with Asuka winning the Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. My favourite Io Shirai will become NXT Women’s Champion. Asuka will cash in against Io Shirai. This will begin the slow breakup of the Kabuki Warriors or Kairi Sane will join sides with Asuka and this will lead to match with my favourite Io Shirai.)

Otis appeared as he went to climb the ladder but broke the rungs. Styles, Mysterio and Black all made their way onto WWE HQs. Corbin tossed both Black and Mysterio off the roof. Styles nailed Otis with a Pele Kick and then connected with the Phenomenal Forearm. Styles and Corbin brawled on top of the ladder. Elias appeared and smashed his guitar over Corbin. Styles went to grab the briefcase but it fell as Otis caught it and won the match.

WINNER: OTIS WON THE MEN’S MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH

(Amin’s Analysis: I didn’t think Black was winning as he shouldn’t win his first WWE World Championship via MITB briefcase. I thought Styles was the easy choice as he and McIntyre could have an awesome feud and matches for the WWE Title. Otis winning is an interesting choice as this can possibly lead to some funny comedic segments to him cashing in.)

OVERALL THOUGHTS: I enjoyed the show as the WWE Championship match between Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins was the best pro wrestling match. I liked the two Money in the Bank ladder matches and it worked filming both matches together. I gave my prediction on both MITB winners as I’m more interested in see what Asuka does with the briefcase. I want to see my favourite Io Shirai win the NXT Women’s Title. It would be awesome to see possibly both Asuka and Kairi Sane challenge my favourite Io Shirai for the NXT Women’s Championship.
