(Amin’s Analysis: This was a great match and one of my favourite from round one as both Evers and Matsumoto worked really hard. Evers has a great confidence and her in-ring movement is very good. Was really fun to see Matsumoto compete in a WWE ring as she has great facial reactions and her ring technique is superb.)

The match started with some chain wrestling. Jessie delivered a back elbow, a head kick, a PK and followed up with a running back senton for a near fall. Conti delivered an STO for a near fall. Conti applied a wrist lock and then worked over the arm of Jessie who made a comeback by delivering forearms. Jessie delivered a slingshot, back-to-back dropkicks, a running forearm into the corner and followed up with an axe kick for a near fall. Finish of the match came when Conti delivered a spinning slam for the win.

Io Shirai def. Xia Brookside – Round One of the Mae Young Classic
- Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
My favourite wrestler the Pirate Princess Kairi Sane was looking very cute and lovely sitting ringside and so was Robbie Brookside (the father of Xia.) Io Shirai came out and has such an amazing presence. Brookside delivered strikes, a head scissors but Shirai landed on her feet. Shirai delivered a running back elbow and followed up with strikes in the corner. Shirai delivered a slingshot double knees to Brookside into the turnbuckle. Brookside went for a strikes but Shirai countered into a crossface and had a smile on her face. Brookside delivered a jaw breaker and a face buster to Shirai who responded by delivering an uppercut. Shirai delivered a running double knees to Brookside into the corner and then called for her finisher as the crowd chanted “Io.” Showing everyone why she’s nicknamed the “Genius of the Sky” Io Shirai climbed the turnbuckle and delivered the most beautiful looking Asai Moonsault to Brookside for the win.
(Amin’s Analysis: Xia Brookside is 19-year old, is already a great wrestler and will become a huge superstars. This was the Io Shirai show as she simply amazing and was such a joy to see my favourite wrestler finally compete inside a WWE ring. Shirai ring movement is flawless, her facial reactions are awesome and has amazing charisma. Shirai is also so cute, adorable and has the most beautiful smile.)
-Overall: Evers and Matsumoto had the best match of the night but the highlight of round one was finally getting the chance to see my favourite wrestler the “Genius of the Sky” Io Shirai (who’s my pick to win the Mae Young Classic) compete inside a WWE ring.
