  • Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Deonna came out, felt like a huge star and got a good reaction. Purrazzo offered a handshake but Kelly slapped it away. The match started with some chain wrestling. Purrazzo went her Fujiwara Arm Bar but Kelly quickly grabbed the ropes. Kelly delivered a big boot for a near fall. Kelly delivered strikes in the corner and followed up with a PK for a near fall. Kelly applied a dragon sleeper and then turned it into a pinning combination for a near fall. Purrazzo made a comeback as she delivered a cartwheel into a low dropkick for a near fall. Kelly delivered a takedown for a near fall. Finish of the match came when Purrazzo delivered a side Russian legsweep, then smoothly transitioned into a Fujiwara Arm Bar as Kelly tapped out. (Purrazzo wept after the match.)

(Amin’s Analysis: This was a solid match as both Kelly and Purrazzo worked hard. Purrazzo was great and her ring moment is very good. Loved the post-match of seeing Purrazzo weeping because all the emotions came out as she worked really hard to sign with WWE.)

Zexius def. Ariel Monroe – Round One of the Mae Young Classic

The match started with some chain wrestling. Monore delivered a knee lift for a near fall. Zexius delivered an uppercut and then yanked the hair of Monroe. Monore delivered a running face buster and followed up with strikes in the corner. Monroe went to climb the turnbuckle but Zexius stopped her. Finish came when Zexius delivered a beautiful looking top rope Spanish Fly for the win.

(Amin’s Analysis: This was a fine match. I liked the fiery aggression that Monroe showed. Zexius was good playing the heel and her Spanish Fly looked awesome.)

Kacy Catanzaro def. Reina González – Round One of the Mae Young Classic

  • Rating: ⭐️⭐️ 3/4

Kacy came out smiling as she has such a lovely smile and got a very good reaction. Let’s go Kacy chants as the match opened with some chain wrestling. There was an awesome spot as Kacy was standing on the ring apron and delivered a great looking head scissors which sent Gonzalez into the turnbuckle. Kacy went for an octopus hold but Gongalez countered by delivering a spinning slam for a near fall. Gonzalez delivered clubbing blows to the back and followed up with a big scoop slam for a near fall. Gongalez charged but ran shoulder first into the ring post. Kacy made a comeback by delivering a dropkick to the knee. Kacy delivered a springboard dropkick and followed up with a senton for a near fall. Finish of the match came when Kacy countered a sunset flip into rollup and got the win. (After the match, Gongalez placed Kacy on her shoulders and this got a good reaction.)

(Amin’s Analysis: This was fine match as I liked the story of Gongalez overpowering Kacy throughout the match. Kacy was the star of this match as she looked very impressive in her very first televised match. Kacy is very athletic and has the potential to become a huge star in NXT.)

Mercedes Martinez def. Ashley Rayne – Round One of the Mae Young Classic

  • Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Martinez came out and got a good reaction. The match started with some chain wrestling. Martinez delivered a back suplex for a near fall. Martinez delivered her variation of a J-Driller as Rayne was dropped on her back for a near fall. Martinez delivered a delayed vertical suplex, went for a second but Rayne countered by delivering a neck breaker for a near fall. Rayne delivered a sliding forearm and followed up with a sliding clothesline for a near fall. Martinez delivered a spine buster for a near fall. Rayne delivered a flurry of strikes and followed up with a neck breaker. Rayne delivered a running forearm and followed up with a flying crossbody. Rayne delivered a reverse spinning neck brekaer for a close near fall. Rayne applied an inside cradle for a near fall. Finish of the match came when Martinez delivered a knee lift and followed up with a Fisherman’s Buster for the win.

(Amin’s Analysis: This was a good match as both Martinez and Rayne worked hard. Was nice to see Rayne compete inside a WWE ring after seeing her compete and work hard in Impact Wrestling. Martinez has great ring presence and was nice her return to the Mae Young Classic.)

-Overall: This was a fine episode of the Mae Young Classic as both Deonna Purrazzo and Kacy Catanzaro stood out to me and could be huge breakout stars in NXT.
